Description

J.Harper and Sons (Leominster) Ltd were awarded the contract for a refurbishment of Clun Fire station in Shropshire.

The work involved in this refurbishment included; Partial demolition of existing Fire Station, followed by the construction of new single storey extensions and a new roof construction over the entire extended footprint.

During the demolition and construction phase we worked closely with Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service to ensure the station remained operational throughout the development. The composite insulated Kalzip roof detail was supported by a new structural steel frame and new walls of masonry cavity construction in self-coloured render finish. High level wall construction of composite insulated profile metal cladding was supported on secondary steelwork.

External works included new parking areas, new access ramp and steps and new foul and storm-water drainage system. Internal works consisted of; A large lecture room, kitchenette, WC and showering facilities, an increase in the size of the Station Office, BA (breathing apparatus) Room, Drying room, the provision of a standalone Watch Room an additional cloak room and the provision of a covered canopy.

J. Harper and Sons were thrilled with the outcome of this refurbishment which dramatically improved the look of the fire station giving it a more modern style finished to a very high standard.
