Description

Working with Two Rivers Housing, we were appointed as the main contractor on a development in Standish, Gloucestershire; to bring affordable housing and shared ownership properties to the area.  Planning for the development allowed seven two-bedroom houses.

Following two specifications; one for affordable rent and one for shared ownership meant the properties were alike in structures but different in designs.

During the construction we worked closely with the local residents. A WhatsApp Community Group was created so residents could ask questions and receive important updates throughout the build process. In January 2020 representatives from; Homes England, Stroud District Council, Standish Parish Council and the Mayor of Stonehouse attended site, to discuss the progress as well as discuss the plans for affordable housing and what it will bring to the area. The development started to come to life with mechanical, electrical and carpentry first fix works commencing.

At the end of March 2020 it was announced by the government that strict lockdown measures were to be implemented with immediate effect. Due to this and in compliance with government guidelines we made the decision to temporarily close the site and the period of lockdown was uncertain. After four weeks and following strict government guidelines, works recommenced with social distancing and covid-19 protection measures in place.

Despite the inactivity on site throughout the lockdown, the development team worked tirelessly to push the job over the finishing line within the contract programme.
